Hunting, a sport?

Okay here's one that really riles me up....How in the hell is hunting a sport? Can someone please explain this to me? Basketball, baseball, football, hockey, soccer, tennis, golf...these are all sports. These are competitions where the people competing have roughly the same skills, with the same type of tools to compete with. How is it a sport to hunt an animal with a high-powered rifle, shotgun, bow & arrow, etc., when the animal doesn't also have the same type of weapon, and can't fight back or even have a real "Sporting" chance of competing against it? And what's even worse, is when people use dogs to track down animals and "tree" them, then they simply walk up to the animal and blow it away while it's sitting there terrified in the tree. Yeah, that's a real sport, and a real man for you. Using a pack of dogs to chase down some terrified animal, trap it somewhere that it can't run away, and then simply pick it off at close range with a gun. Some sport. Mountain Lions are killed in this manner. Can someone please explain to me why this is considered a sport? Basically it just sounds to me like an excuse to use a weapon to kill something. People who "enjoy" killing anything are disgusting. Killing something because you have to eat is one thing, but since there are few people who really HAVE to do that anymore, that is a small portion of hunters. Sport hunting should be made illegal, period.
